Made by local Calgarians\, sisters Crislen and Renee Barnachea bring their vision to life through a powerful documentary that touches on the impact of biculturalism\, Filipino history\, and the arts. In partnership with the Philippine Calgary Festival Association we are thrilled to have the opportunity to bring the second screening to you! \nFilipino Ka Ba? explores third identity and the generational experiences of Filipino Canadians living in Alberta — what we inherit\, what we carry\, and how we define “enough” for ourselves in terms of where we stand culturally. It asks the question “what does it mean to be Filipino?” It explores the sacrifices that come along with migrating from one country to another\, and the rewards and the challenges of that experience.

DESCRIPTION:Join us for a night of women-centric short ski films! You’ve heard of “Girl Dinner” – the perfectly chaotic spread of favourite snacks\, little treats\, and whatever sounds good at the moment. We wanted this film tour to carry that same energy: a lineup of short films with range. From big mountain skiing and storytelling to humour and human experiences\, each film brings something different to the table – the kind of mix that leaves you fully satisfied by the end of the night. \nEach event will showcase five films followed by a Q+A and poster signing with the athletes and filmmakers who brought the films to life. The event will run approximately two hours. \nFilm Lineup:– VIVID – feat. Devin Logan\, Jenna Dramise\, Nicole Cordingley\, and Sierra Schlag– Biscuits – feat. Erin Spong and Nat Segal– Rapid Fire – feat. Mali Noyes– Theory of Butter – feat.
