Drawing on archival materials from Lougheed House, this talk explores the experiences and daily lives of the Canadian Women’s Army Corps (CWAC) members stationed at Lougheed Barracks, from the early days of CWAC recruitment and training to their duties and everyday life.
Francesca Zambolin is a PhD candidate at the University of Calgary. Her research focuses on women’s histories, memory and experiences during the Second World War. As a former CIH Research Fellow at Lougheed House, she conducted research on the history of Lougheed House, including the Lougheed Barracks period and the experiences of the Canadian Women’s Army Corps members who lived and worked there.
