DESCRIPTION:Join the Centre for Sexuality\, Story Money Impact for a screening of A Place Where I Belong\, a film by Rheanna Toy.  \nFacing a system that fails to recognize their full humanity\, six 2SLGBTQIA+ people with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities (I/DD) fight for visibility\, love\, and freedom through Connecting Queer Communities (CQC)\, a radical program that’s at risk of disappearing.  \nThrough CQC\, the protagonists find safety and solidarity while exploring their sexual desire and gender. People with I/DD are often excluded from queer community by their caregivers’ discomfort with their sexuality\, segregated from society to the point where they don’t have the experience to describe their queer identity. CQC models for the world how inclusivity can transform lives so that everyone can find a place where they belong. \nFollowing the screening\, there will be a Q&A session with the director and local experts!

Plus\, you’ll get to see the legendary Rolling Stones Mobile Studio\, where countless hit records were made. Studio Bell admission is required. Space is limited and first-come\, first-served. From traditional folk to contemporary genres\, it continues to shape Canada’s national sound while celebrating the linguistic and cultural diversity that defines us. This event provides an opportunity to highlight the vibrancy and energy the Francophonie brings to Alberta.  Journée de la Francophonie will feature performances by Ariane Mahrÿke Lemire (Regina\, SK)\, Jeremy Gignoux (Calgary\, AB)\, Marc Beaudin (Edmonton\, AB) and Tina Hartt (Calgary\, AB)\, as well as a panel discussion with the artists discussing how culture and music intersect. National Music Centre is also home to the Adisq Hall of Fame\, which celebrates the Quebec and Francophone Canadian music industry. Visitors can dance to Francophone hits in the silent A-DISCO\, and young music fans can play in the kids’ craft station.
