As part of Contemporary Calgary’s Perspective Film Series, A Separation (2011) follows Nader and Simin, whose marriage dissolves when they disagree on emigrating. When Nader hires a religious woman to care for his Alzheimer’s-stricken father, a chain of lies and a tragic incident lead to an intense legal battle that explores class, faith, and morality in modern Iran.
