Writing this memoir was an act of courage, vulnerability, and resistance. It is a story of taking risks, navigating borders and belonging, confronting institutional barriers, and finding the strength to reclaim one’s voice. Since its publication, Writing in the Wound has been featured in Alberta’s Favourite Reads 2025 and received the Literary Titan Silver Book Award. Author Shumaila Hemani will be in store for a book signing event and to talk with readers.
