La Jetée (1962) is a 28-minute French sci-fi short, told primarily through still photos, about a prisoner in a post-apocalyptic, subterranean Paris. Sent back in time by scientists due to his intense memory of a woman at Orly airport, he falls in love with her in the past, only to discover his journey ends in his own childhood death.
