This concert will be a short trip in a time machine. We will begin in England circa 1600, then we’ll visit Paris in 1716, then finish in the modern era in the woods outside Berlin. I will play lute, theorbo, and classical guitar. – Kat Hammer
Kat Hammer has been an active performer in Canada for over 20 years, appearing as both a soloist and chamber musician. Her repertoire spans from Renaissance and Baroque works on lute and early guitar to contemporary compositions for classical guitar.
She is known for thoughtful, engaging performances that highlight the expressive possibilities of plucked string instruments. In 2025, her solo lute and baroque guitar album Standards was nominated for a YYC Music Award for Classical Album of the Year, reflecting both her artistry and her commitment to bringing refined, accessible performances to a wide audience.
